Customer said they were concerned they weren’t getting as much production as they could. At first review, there are trees to the south. In the summer months when the sun is higher in the sky, the sun can ‘clear’ those trees and access the panels better than in the winter, when the sun is going across the sky at a lower angle.
After inspecting wire connections and taking meter readings, a faulty corroded connection was found and repaired.
Inverter had not been connected to wi-fi for reporting ability. Connected to inverter via ethernet cable and laptop, commissioned inverter to set date and time, and connect to customer’s local internet connection. The internet connection is shared by the small community. Monitoring now includes daily email notifications with production information and alert notifications when presented.
In this particular instance, the only way to improve the customers production would be to relocate the panels, or ask the neighbors to remove their trees. The cost in labor to move panels would not compensate for the improved production. It would be best to leave panels in place and add more panels.
Customer now looking into battery storage ability and financing before adding more panels.
